Topographic survey - Federal Courthouse 300 Fannin St.– Shreveport, LA:

A&A was tasked with performing a topographic survey in 2023 of the complete parking lot showing any above ground features, as well as drainage patterns. Survey research was performed as well as older company records to find any relevant information. Because the subdivision of downtown Shreveport was established over a hundred years ago, it has gone through significant changes. Company survey records of maps from the 50s were utilized as well as other older surveys were incorporated into this job. Because it was a topographic survey top of curb and gutter elevations were obtained. Inverts of drains as well as temporary bench marks were established for a potential future construction project.

Topographic Survey - Union Train Station - Texarkana, Arkansas:

A&A was tasked with performing a topographic survey of the complete station on both sides of the state line, and a boundary survey for the station located on the Arkansas side. Survey research was performed and a local firm that had previously produced surveys of the station in the 90s was contacted so that copies could be obtained. Amtrak had a previous survey of the station from 2012, which was also used as a reference. The survey data from that survey was made available by Amtrak, and it was incorporated into our survey to increase its accuracy. An USGS Vertical Bench Mark on the face of the station building on the Texas side was also tied down. The USGS Bench Mark No. B-95 was the vertical basis for the survey. Railroad safety training and courses also were required for the project, both for Amtrak as well as Union Pacific.
